1 January 2024 – Stratford
We will again start at the tourist information centre at 10:30hrs (time for an optional parkrun beforehand) and follow the Monarch's Way along the canal, through the town and into the Welcombe Hill Country park, we will walk past Clopton Tower to Lower Ingon. We will the turn back towards Stratford and will walk back via the obelisk and viewpoint passing the Welcombe Hotel, a Grade II listed Victorian mansion.
Toilets at the start, lunch back in Stratford and an optional 2 mile historic building sightseeing in Stratford after.

14 January 2024 – Hambleton Peninsula
Meet in Hambleton village, near Oakham, Rutland. Grid reference: SK899077 .Time: 10:30am
Hambleton Peninsula circular walk along surfaced and good woodland paths. The peninsula loop is the prettiest part of Rutland Water reservoir and has fewer walkers and cyclists and is also one of my favourite walks!
Please park considerately as is a small village and car share where possible. Please bring a packed lunch as there are no cafe's on the route. There will be an opportunity for refreshments after the walk at the Finch's Arms.

We walk up Helpston Road and across country tracks past Upton farm and chapel and woodlands, with a lunch stop at Willowbrook Farm, where there is a cafe for refreshments and toilets. We will walk back down along woods and fields to return to Ailsworth.

25 February 2024 – Uppingham and Eye Brook Reservoir

Starting at Fermyn Woods. Visit an unfinished Grade 1 listed Elizabethan Summer House and grounds. Lunch stop in Wadenhoe (although no pub/tea rooms). Returning via the southern end of Fermyn Woods. Due to recent wet weather it is very water logged and muddy. Wellies recommended if you have them or boots & gaitors as a minimum.

24 March 2024 – Edenham, Cawthorpe and Bourne
Park on the roads in Edenham away from the main road and we’ll meet outside the Village Hall.

Starting in the quaint village of Edenham we travel east through Bourne Woods to Cawthorpe. We then walk into the centre of Bourne for a lunch stop in Wellhead Park (or any of pubs in the centre) before heading back to the bottom of Bourne Woods. We finish with some lovely views as we head back down the hill back into Edenham.

Stroll south down the Viking Way turning west to loop around Fort Henry and the lake passing through Exton Park and onto lunch stop at the Fox & Hounds in Exton before picking up the Viking Way again back to the start. Excellent tracks and fine views with a nice pub stop.

Meet at the RSPB Lodge in Sandy (car parking is £6 for the day so you may wish to arrange car sharing). Time: 10:30am
Walk through the RSPB Reserve to Sutton where we have a pub stop for lunch and then return via Potton and Sandy Heath. There shouldn't be too much mud but there are newborn calves in the fields so no dogs please. There is a cafe at the beginning of the walk for anyone who wants to get there early and there are toilets a couple of miles in as well as at the lunch stop.

5 May 2024 – Grafham Water
Meet at Graham Water angling lodge (cafe and toilets). Parking is either in the pay and display car park or considerately in the small village of Perry nearby and navigate the path to the angling lodge. Time: 10:30am
Circular walk along good paths through wooded areas and fields initially then alongside the side of the reservoir until we reach a lakeside spot for lunch on the large stones on the 'beach'. If it rains or is too wet for sitting on the stones, we can continue onto the Visitor centre for a later lunch.
After the Visitor Centre we walk along the path atop the concrete wall, which contains the reservoir to make our way back to Perry. Muddy when wet so wear waterproof footwear.

9 July 2024 – River Nene Evening Walk
Meet in the small dead end lay-by behind the roundabout where Thorpe Road joins Longthorpe Parkway. A small number of parking spaces available or there are parking spaces on Westwood Park Road or Thorpe Avenue (after 2pm) although check the road signs. Time: 7pm
We set off across Thorpe Meadows towards the rowing lake, follow the river past the Yacht Club and boats towards the edge of Nene Park returning on the other side of the river via Orton Mere. There are small amounts of mud if wet but otherwise good paths. Optional refreshments at the Boathouse afterwards.

Meet outside the Shuckburgh Arms, parking along the main road with consideration. Time: 10:30am.
Southwick Circular in the surrounding woods with beautiful views of arable land including flower meadows and nature rich verges and woods. There are a few overgrown areas so you might want to wear long trousers. There are no facilities on the walk so please bring a packed lunch - the pub is open from 12pm with food and drinks available at the end of the walk.

8 September 2024 – Twyford Loop
Meet at the layby on the B6047 just north of Twyford. There is room for approximately 10 cars so car sharing may be advised. The A6006 (after Oakham) was closed at the time of the recce so you may want to check this and travel via the A47. Time: 10:30am
A circular walk across rolling countryside via Thorpe Satchville, Burrough Hill Iron Age Fort, a possible pub stop in Somerby and Burrough on the Hill. It is suggested that you bring your own picnic. Walking poles may also be desirable.

We walk out via Washingley , Caldecote and Denton over rolling countryside towards Glatton where we will be stopping for lunch, drinks and toilets. The pub are not serving food so we can eat our lunch at their outside tables provided we buy drinks. We then head downhill towards Stilton which we skirt before coming back uphill to Folksworth.

17 November 2024 – Regent’s Canal Walk
Meet outside Kings Cross station entrance near Caffe Nero (which is inside) at 10.20 for 10.30 start. There are no tube journeys or further train travel. There is a train leaving Peterborough Station at 9.15 which is the Great Northern train and can be used with the super off peak ticket (which excludes LNER). The intention would be to get the 16.13 or 16.56 train back to Peterborough. Time: 10:30am
From Kings Cross we head around the back to Coals Drop Yard where we find the towpath of the Regents's Canal. We follow it west towards Camden, passing through Camden Lock. A quick climb up Primrose Hill to admire the panoramic views of London then back to the towpath to pass through London Zoo and past the monkey enclosure.
After a brief time on pavement arrive at Little Venice for lunch with multiple food/coffee venues and benches and Paddington Station for mini supermarkets and toilets. We will have about an hour here to admire the canal barges and then will head back the same way following the towpath once again. The path is narrow and congested in places especially when passing under bridges and locks.

A circular walk from Wood Walton via Wennington Lodge & Village, Great Raveley, Upwood, Red House Farm, Moat Farm and Keeler Farm with views across the Fens and adjacent farm land. There are no pub stops on route but the Dog & Castle pub may be open at the end.

4-5 mile circular walk in Stamford taking in Wothorpe Towers and Burghley Deer Park in the hope of seeing Rudolph. We will stop for snacks/packed lunch in Burghley Park (bring your own) as well as calling in at Wetherspoons at the end of the walk.
